Beautiful or Creepy?

The first time I’d seen this done, an example of it was brought to me by my seven year old daughter.  It was inspired by photographer, Jennifer George, whose fine art portraiture takes my breath away.  My daughter had found her book, The Art of Pregnancy Photography, while we were browsing through the local bookstore.  My daughter and I both thought the technique was absolutely beautiful, and I was eager to try it out.   Being a mom, and loving the ultrasound images I have of my own babies, this image of the baby seemingly in utero (albeit, in the breach position instead of vertex), just elicited the same feeling of awe that 4-D ultrasound images did.  However, a few of my friends have thought it was kind of creepy.

This is my first attempt, and I’m pretty pleased with the results.  So is my daughter.  She told me this is one of her favorite photos I’ve done.    It doesn’t hurt that the model is gorgeous, who I have featured here before, as well as her adorable, newborn baby boy.  I will be posting more images of him soon, but I needed to get this one done for a school assignment, so I had to bump it up a bit in my editing queue.    Anyway, I would love to get some feedback on whether you think this is Beautiful or Creepy?

I think it comes down to personal preference. These types of photos are certainly creative and would stand the test of time as a beautiful keepsake and memory for the family. It would be up to the individual to decide if they wanted to put them out on display or up in their bedroom to enjoy more intimately. Either way, I think they are expressive and enjoyable.

I agree with Kelley. I love how creative it is, but I wonder where a photograph of this type would be displayed. Personal choice. It does give an “OH” first response. I did show a friend and she thought it was more on the creepy side, I on the other hand look at it as expressive. Either way, you did a fabulous job!
